have some water to spray on the boot to help get it back in after u pull it out. u might want to try and spray a little water around the boot before pulling it out and try twisting it alittle. good luck

I just had all my windows stop working on my 05 F150 and thank goodness I searched and came upon this thread . Sure enough, there was a broken ground wire in the boot between the door and frame. Big thanks . I can't imagine what that might have cost at the stealership. F150 Forum FTW.

Broken Wire
Thanks for your post and different replies, I found the same problem with my 2009 Platinum. Power window switches caused running boards to activate and mirror defrost button to also operate running boards, dome lite out too. It took awhile since ground wire was black with purple strand, wasn't sure what I had..Thanks ron

Same problem... fix with #12 and connectors
I just fixed same type problem. All 4 windows stopped working at the same time. I checked fuse (which was god). I removed the boot from the drivers door and found a cut wire (black and blue wire.)
Using #12 wire and 2 connectors, I spliced a 4 inch piece in line and all was good.

I had this same issue for the past few days on my 2004 ford f150 SuperCrew. Lately the windows stopped working. i knew there was something with the wiring because the windows would randomly work and if i giggled the hose running from door to truck they'd work sometimes. i guess it made the wires connect.
found this thread went out and pulled up the sleeve and surely enough i had to severed wires. no idea how.
reconnected the wires and all is good again
wonder what the orange and green wire is for. The fat black one controls the windows.
