I've used flex tape with reasonable results.....
Never used the sealant, but, I have used plasti-dip and it's not bad..... I've had no problems with any of my plastic fading.... Just have to "oil" them from day one or after I've brought them back to life with my heat gun..... So everytime I wash my truck I oil the flares..... Worked well so far.....
