The dealer has the parts on order as we speak. I am getting two solenoids and 2 of the plastic seals which seal around them at the valve cover. Im thinking I should do this myself as it should be a job any shadetree mechanic could tackle, although those plastic seals are a bit intimidating. Tried prying one off last night just to test it out and didn't really dislodge it much. I see people saying to "pry it out with a screwdriver" but there isnt much of the seal protruding out of the valve cover. Not much flange to pry. Does anyone have any suggestions on removing the seal? Is there a chance that I could destroy the seal getting it out and drop some of it into the engine? Anyhting i should watch for?

Take a screwdriver and punch it into the seal, then pry up as much as you can. Then use vice grips to tear it out.. it's a pretty resilient little seal that won't shatter into little pieces. Just take your time.

These are about six months old, but the older design..

Plan on destroying the seals and have a replacement set on stand by. I took a pair of vice grips and grabbed an edge and started prying my way around the seal to get it to budge. Ill be replacing my solenoids AGAIN week after next when I get back from vacation. The ones in there aren't six months old yet, but since the new design came out Im itching to install them.

I eventually just said "screw it" and bought myself new seals cause I just took mine out piece by piece until I finally got it out and that's what it looked like...lol! I put a pic of the part number too just incase you need it.

Would flushing the motor help or just stir up trouble?

If you are talking about flushing it to burn the carbon off to help get the seals out easier then it won't happen. Its easier just to replace the 12 dollar seals.

No I was refering to a crankcase flush to prevent the screens from getting clogged. Or would that loosen stuff up and end up clogging them?

It could go either way. I ran some Berryman's combustion chamber cleaner through mine a few days ago and I haven't had any problems.
