Please Help hot gauge and loss of power
I have 2002 F150 that for some reason or another the bottom of the block blew apart. It had 91,000 miles and was running great. I purchased a 2007 engine with 10,000 miles on it and put it in. I had to use some of the exterior stuff from the 2002 engine. With the 2007 engine in it, it ran great for about two months. Then all of a sudden the HOT gauge went past hot and the oil pressure light came on and a great deal of power loss. I took it to a shop so they could figure it out and even though the hot gauge was hot the motor was not running hot. I replaced the coil and the fuel pump (it was reading 35 lbs) and the truck ran great for one week before it did it again. This is fustrating. If anybody has had this happen or heard of anything please let me know. Thanks Oh yea when it happens I turn off the truck and restart and the gauges are back to normal and full power for another mile or two.

Sounds to me like the computer thinks it is running hot. It will put is in limp home mode and will cut it down to running on 6 cylinders. Which would explain the no power part.
I don't have any answers as to what to do about it. That's just my .02 cents worth. Probably not much help but that's my only idea. Good luck.
