ran into the same problem!, the caliper is actually a 2 piece caliper i guess u could say, there are 2 bolts that are attached, to the caliper body and if u take those off the i guess u could say the top of the caliper comes off, picture it like the roof on a house, taking it off and putting it back on,gives u plenty of room to put those v springs in.

If you have to expand that thin metal wire that seperates the pads that the caliper goes over, something is wrong. The pads are to far apart. Those are suppost to have tension in the to keep seperation on the pads so they don't stay on the rotor. You usually need to press the pads together in the bracket around the rotor and squeeze that wire together enough to get in both of the holes. I usually put a quick clap on the pads so they stay together and put caliper back in place without those wire spring things to pop back off. That's the quickest and easiest way I found to do them myself.
