Picking the right shock help - 06 F-150 Screw with 6" Pro Comp lift

I feel as though I have scoured the entire internet and found many contradicting answers to my question. Please forgive the long post, but here is the deal;

I have a 2006 F-150 with a 6" Pro Comp lift. The front passenger shock sheared off while driving. I am replacing the shocks myself, but I can not find exactly what shock will fit this application. I am looking to upgrade to Fox or Bilstein shocks, however I can not find the part number for either shock that will fit my truck with the 6" lift. Also, I have called a couple shops and they keep telling me I need Coilover shocks (easily a couple grand difference).

1) Do I really need coilovers or will a monotube shock (such as the Bilstein 5100) work?

2) What is the part number for Bilsteins or Fox shocks do I need.

I know there are plenty of people recommending the Bilsteins here and plenty of people who seem to have a similar setup, but for some reason every time I look at a new discussion, I come out with new questions about the correct shocks to use. The installation of the shocks is not a problem, but finding the right shock is exhausting!

Sorry to hear about your luck. I used Bilstein struts with my RCX 6" lift and just reused the rest of the stock parts...basically just swapped the stock strut with the new Bilstein. As long as your lift doesn't use a strut spacer, these should work for you. They can be set at 4" or 6" lift.

Bilstein 5100
Part # - F4-BE5-B316-TO

Awesome! That is what I was originally thinking, but as I said, I talked with a shop and they really confused me as what I needed. Do you like the Bilstein 5100's?

Yeah, I love them. Coming from having a leveling kit with stock struts/shocks, to the lift with the Bilsteins, it feels more like the completely stock ride and handling, if not a little better.
