Phaser/Timing rebuild, now P2004 code
Had a local shop that has done good work for friends and family do a complete time system rebuild on my 2004 F150 5.4 3v. Prior to taking it in I got a cam sensor code and got the hot idle that sounded like the engine was coming apart. Oil pressure at hot was 25 psi and cam journals were good. Got a call today that the truck was done but now showing code p2004. First thing out of the mechanic's mouth. That is inside the intake and we did not touch the intake. Come, get the truck, and see if it keeps up, maybe clean the intake. I researched P2004 and find all about the IMRC. Looking at the system over the internet, there is linkage that could have disturbed during all the moving of the stuff to get the valve covers off. Mechanic claims he checked all the linkage and the IMRC is locked open.
I dont really feel like paying for my truck repair when now it has problems it didn't before. Best I can tell the P2004 has nothing to do with the timing system rebuild except maybe damage during tear down or reassembly. Not really sure what to do. Thinking telling the shop to do the intake cleaning themselves and figure it out before I get it back. If it cost a little be more, so be it.
Looking for opinions or suggestions on how anything done with the timing system rebuild may have caused the P2004.

Just completed the same timing job. Timing went back together great. Truck is quiet at startup and smooth idle. Good power when engine is cooler, but once warm I get a P2006 and low power. Any update to know if something can get easily knocked out when doing this type of timing job to cause a P2004 or P2006?
