Default Phaser manufacturer recommendation

I have read a lot of people that have had the return of some symptoms after using Doorman phasers so I am reluctant to use them in my timing rebuild. However Ford OEM phasers are double the price.

Any other manufacturers that you have found or used with success? Anyone know who makes the Ford ones?

I would stick with OEM when it comes to internal parts... remember you need to pull it all apart again if they fail...

I'd go (and just went with..) Motorcraft.

Er wait.. would I? First MC phaser I got from Tasca was broken in two piece with other damage. Second one I got, one of the 3 pins that link the two halves was coming out.

Basically the lesson is: Don't buy from Tasca. Do buy OEM. Don't buy Dorman engine components.

I did note that in my original post and have not ruled them out. Right now I am searching out recommendations and personal experiences.

So no Doorman and not OEM what does that leave us with?

Again, anyone know who makes the Mortorcraaft? I doubt they make them themselves.

Don't know. Why does it matter? It's passed the requirements to be Ford branded and obviously the brand is having great success over the Dorman units.

Buy them from Ford. The sting of a high price is fleeting compare to the lingering resentment brought by poor quality.
