Pet question...Taking the 04 Screw home for holidays
I didn't really know what section to post this in...
I now have a Tonneau bed cover on the truck. We will be traveling out of state this year for the holidays. Roughly 13 hours. Our two small dogs always go with us but we normally take the wifes Trailblazer. I've heard and read mixed reviews about carbon monoxide poisoning with pets in an inclosed truck bed. Some websites claim it to be safe, others disagree. I wanted to put them in their cages and strap them down back there up against the cab. I also have a light wired in back there so they can see.
Do any of you guys/gals have stories or experience with this? Btw, I have no exhaust leaks or problems with the truck.

One thing is for sure, you wife won't kill you if her luggage "dies" of carbon monoxide poisoning.
But in all honesty that seems rather scary for the dogs I think one of the camper shells (toppers) with windows is the only way that I would transport the dogs in the back with any sort of cover.

I would never put my dogs in the back under a tonneau,Not worth the chance of killing them. just my 2 cents!

I have an 80 lb pitbull i just fold up the backseat and he lays on my weathertech cover so if there small let them ride in the cab i dont see riding in a dark closed truck bed being good for them

I don't know your situation, but I wouldn't put the dogs in the bed of my truck.
If you don't have passengers in the back seat, put the crates there. That's where we put our little dog.

I think this is the advice I am looking for. I've never considered this until now. We are not leaving soon, but we have talked about wanting to take my truck instead because there is so much more room in the cab. The back seats would have been occupied with my 2 daughters and all thier toys and snacks...that is why I considered putting the pooches in the bed, making frequent stops during the way.
I think I am going to reconsider this and get the wifes truck ready for the trip instead. Thanks for yalls input!
