Did anyone take a picture of the front? I checked mine a month or 2 ago and it looked ok but I didn't take it off. I'm just wondering if the front looks good then when you take it off you find corrosion.

Great advice. I replaced mine about a month ago. My old one was still intact as far as I could see, but it was the peace of mind I was looking for.

Plus, I opted for the Dorman part, which has a 'powder coat' on the aluminum half which at least looks like it will hold up better than just metal. It also has the rubber mounting baffles to keep it off the crossmember, which I liked too.

The moral of the thread is...know what condition yours is in!

Changed mine today, my old one was in good shape, my guess is it was changed recently... I'll keep it for a spare.

My truck wouldn't start yesterday morning, I have been meaning to check/replace the FPDM for a while now. Figured this was the problem, so I crawled under the truck and this is what I found. Luckily mine stopped working in my driveway so I didn't have to pay for a tow, but people should definetly be checking these.

Thank you. That was my biggest fear of that happening to me.

Lucky you! Mine died probably 4 miles from my driveway in the middle of the road lol

Luckily I found out my insurance company reimburses me!

If you are waiting to check this and you live in the north where they salt the roads, you may regret it. My '04 went out at about 190k miles 2 years ago. Opted for the MC that had the raised bolts to keep the unit off the cross member.
I got lucky, she was in the garage and wouldn't start on Monday morning, stayed home and had her fixed before 10am.
