Default when I did timing I cleaned out valve covers

Between brake cleaner and dawn I cleaned and dried it out . A new one on drivers side was very expensive so to heck with that .

I got a trouble code for the PCV but I'm hoping it's just a vacuum line issue. Cannot find a leak but the line crossing the back of the engine is breaking down and may be pinched off on the inside some. Gonna replace it but any other suggestions? Also, I pulled the line off to the PCV and put 30psi air through it and it is clean. I really really hate vacuum issues. The idle is rough and drops below my setting of 700rpm when stopping/stopped.

I'm on the verge of changing the driver side valve cover right now. Theres ALOT of condensation under the oil cap and the dipstick keeps pushing itself out a good inch. I'm hoping this fixes it. Has anyone actually replaced it because of these same issues? Did it work?

I have a 2004 5.4 Lariat.. I have a weird loud whine sound that “cries” a long long gasp right after I shut it off.
if I pull the dipstick partly out the whine goes away. I’m so so tired of throwing money and time at it. Did changing the valve cover help you?

It wasn't overly hard and fixed the condensation /white sludge. There's a pcv valve on the driver side valve cover that isn't supposed to fail and was changeable on the earlier tritons. This one is part of the valve cover.
