passenger side manifold fixed! its like a new engine
i had a leak on my passenger side manifold that would tick and annoy the ever loving hell out of me. i got it fixed and i love driving my truck again! especially putting the passenger window down! my duals sound great, the tick would overpower my exhaust most of the time, but now its all exhaust, the engine is soo quiet now. dont know why i waited soo long to get it fixed. i highly recommend you getting it fixed if yours has a leak too. it is expensive, but if you can swing it, do it!

I hear ya! Mine ticks but I can't tell if it's the phasers or an exhaust leak. Muffler shop guy couldn't find it but then he was listening at idle and I hear mine at a little bit higher rpm. What did it cost ya if you don't mind me asking?

A good way to check is at first startup of the day listen for the tick to get quiet after about 30 seconds, or put it drive hold a foot on the break and a foot on the gas and give it a lil gas like your going to do a break stand burnout, you should hear the tick, can't really hear it at idle or just revving it, it needs to be under a load to hear the leak...

If it is a ticking noise, not a knocking noise, that gets louder with acceleration, but then is quiet when you are not accelerating it is most likely a manifold leak. In the 2004-2008 it is usually the right manifold and its either warped or cracked. You will hear a ticking noise coming from the passenger wheel well
There is a few ways to check it..
1) Visually inspect it and look for black carbon deposits on the block right above and below the manifold.
2) Put a shop vac on blow and then duck tap it one the end of your exhaust so that it is sealed and then spray soapy water on the manifolds and look for bubbles.

ugh, mine has been leaking for about a year now and it drives me crazy. doesnt sound like mine is quite as loud as yours was, I can only hear it in the truck when Im towing or if I have the windows down. Ive been working up the motivation to tackle this job myself.
