Default Park break light a known issue?

Hey guys. I'm pretty familiar with how the park break light works and normal issues when the switch goes out. Guess what I'm asking is... Is it a common problem on our trucks. Or is this just a part gone bad that needs replacing. I'm hoping it's just the switch and not an electrical gremlin. I'm working out of town at the moment so don't have the means to fix it or trouble shoot it. It's intermittent some times the light come on and stays on, some times it flickers off and on a few times and sometimes it works properly. Just wondering if any of you have had any experience with this issue on these trucks. Thanks.

Think brake circuit is pretty straight forward and the flickering you describe is likely the switch going bad so I would say the brake light sticking is also related to a bad switch. And no I havent seen posts in here for that type of problem so I don't think it's all to common

Default 2004 F150 XLT Parking Brake Dash Light Stays On

My 2004 F150 XLT has 245,000 miles (I bought it new in 2004) and runs like a top. Excellent condition. I keep up with all maintenance work. Right before I had a complete brake job done, I noticed that the parking brake dash light would stay on after releasing the parking brake, but would turn off after a few minutes. I had a complete brake job done at Jennings Anderson Ford (Boerne, Texas) a few weeks ago. The parking brake light came on a day later. Now it stays on all the time. The dealer said that I need to replace the master cylinder and potentially the booster (over $900). I don't believe them. Based on what I have read in the Ford Forum, it appears that there is a simple solution to this issue. Any suggestions?

Well guess its time for an update. I checked the switch with a meter at the park brake peddle and found it to be good. So the next step was to trace the wires. Followed them up to the instrument panel in the dash. Took the dash apart and the the instrument cluster. Couldn't really find anything wrong visually but did find the when I mess with the plug on the left side that the light would go off. So I've come to the conclusion that the fault is somewhere in that area. Just couldn't pin point it. Did manage to get the light to stay off for a few day after messing with it though. Then it came back on. Haven't had time to pull the dash apart again to try to fix it permanently though. Hope this may be of help.

Default 2004 F150 Parking Brake Light Stays On

I checked the brake fluid level and all is ok.....a little over "max", so it can't be low brake fluid level causing the light to stay on.....where is the parking brake light switch located so I can replace it as the next troubleshooting task......

Default parking brake

Try this fix, Release the brake, pull the release lever again hold it pulled out and at the same time lift the parking brake pedal to the top of its movement, hold it up, now let go of the release handle. Yea, I know, you can do it what is wrong is the adjustment is off, but this trick does work.

Have you experienced anything off with your brake pedal like too stiff or spongy?
