That does look really good! For the record, plasti dip is not really that much thicker than paint and applied correctly is very durable!

Default 2012 F150 XLT Painted Grills

Painted mine satin black. $4.50 Rustoleum, one can for all 4. I cleaned them real well first and hit them with several fine coats. Careful not to put too much down at once. They look a heck of a lot better than the silver with slight rust tinge.

Thanks for the photos! That's exactly what I was looking to do on my 2010 super crew, but I wanted to see it first. Did you paint the trim right around the chrome handle also? Or was yours already dark from the factory?

Most of my trim is already black, but I would have hit them with satin as well. Rustoleum works well if you prep well and hit it with thin coats rather all at once. I use simple rubbing alcohol to prep. I’ve ordered and shot the expensive trim paint in the past, with a sprayer, but found that Rustoleum works just as well. Also, keep an old toothbrush handy when you get ready to paint the grilles, it will let you remove excessive paint if you hit it too thick by accident.
