Bought my 2006 in July 2009, and paid it off 5 years later in 2014. I plan on trading it in, by end of 2022 or beginning of 2023.

I am a believer that there is never ideal time to trade. I believe more money is to be saved on your vehicle swap if you sell privately.

I'm not planning on selling thtruck, as it's been too good to me. Being out of debt from it is too nice a feeling,

As someone who has been driving (paid for) old vehicles for a long time, my advice is to take at least some of that payment money and put it in the truck. And I don't mean blng. Look for things that might fail - bearings, ball joints, wiring, hoses - and change them before they fail. Keep a spare alternator and starter on the shelf so you can buy quality items on your own terms. Do your own oil changes - not to save money but because its a good chance to crawl under the truck and have a good look at it. Keep it clean so leaks show up immediately.

Congrats, I'm definitely a bit envious! I'm counting down myself. 14 months to go... I hope you enjoy it and get many more years out of it!

I purchased my 2002 Lariat in 2004, paid it off in 2009. Drove it until I purchased my current 2016 Lariat about 4 months ago. 10 years without a truck payment was awesome! And the truck still runs great, I was just ready for a change.
