Default P1000 / Edge Evolution CS / Emissions Inspection (NJ)

I have a 2008 with the 4.6L and Edge Evolution CS running canned tunes. I know Edge says a truck running their tunes will pass state inspections, but I always have tuned it back to stock to get inspected. As always, when tuning back to stock, it throws the P1000 which usually takes me 2 weeks to clear. Towards the end of that cycle my battery died, so now I have to start over, but am running out of time to get the truck inspected this month. I'm pretty sure I'll fail inspection with the P1000, so my questions:

• I do not think when you tune to the canned tunes it throws the P1000 - Is that true?
• Does anyone have experience passing/failing NJ emissions while running a canned Edge tune?

I've always left mine plugged in and no issues with emissions. But to your question, mine has never thrown the code. I'd reinstall or leave out and get driving so you can put some miles on it to pass the test.

After that just leave it tuned!

Hello.
I practice as indicated in the following links and everything comes back in order fairly quickly.
With your scanner are you able to have that module does not finish?

The p1000 codes will keep you from passing inspection if you have more than 1 readiness module not completed (if NJ is the same as NY). It took me almost 1000 miles to get down to just 1 readiness not completed when going from tune to stock. You *may* be able to pass with the tune, as with a tune it doesn't register the p1000 code, but the danger is if the place attempts to reflash or otherwise F with the computer, at which case the PCM will be bricked and undriveable, and you'll need to send the PCM to Edge.

If I were you (and this is what I did) simply drive it and not worry about it until the P1000 code clears. I've never in my decades of driving cared or been scared of being pulled over, especially for an easily explainable thing like the inspection/tune issue. Back in college my K5 went uninspected for my entire time of ownership (3 years) due to a cracked windshield, never a problem.

Just wait and clear the code. Not worth the risk of computer issues. Also google the precise readiness-clearing drive cycle, its surprisingly complex and more than just start-up cycles.

FYI i recently had an issue where my EDGE evolution screwed up its tuning parameters and now sends the truck into limp mode with any tune. Internet searches corroborate this... perhaps an increased rate of tune changes leads to an increased rate of changes from 0s to 1s?
