I have a 06 5.4 fx4, 175,000 miles... transmission was running completely normal then all of a sudden started losing power and studdering.. luckily within a mile of home. O/D flash and wrench light eventually came on but no CEL... wtf Ford!!?? I got it home and pulled codes p0722, p0720, p2106.. changed OSS sensor and checked ohms on wiring and all checked out.. my tranny fluid was burnt to a crisp and some fine metal shavings on the magnet and the OSS sensor. Found a spot where the harness wire sleeve melted to the bunch of wires at passenger side exhaust manifold/back of engine but found no wires melted thru or merged with others... I had pulled Intake manifold and cleaned everything, replaced throttle motor and tps sensor... I cannot figure why the 0722 is happening if the wires check out. any ideas of wtf is going on?? I'm running out of solutions and not sure if pulling tranny and rebuilding is going to solve this issue as it's coming up as a wiring issue... possible OSS gear fail inside tranny?? appreciate wisdom on this bs.
