p0022 Cam timing
Just wanted to get somer input. My 04 f150 5.4L threw the infamous P0022 code. I changed the camshaft position sensors and it did nothing, also it's in bank 2 so I swapped the VCT solenoids and reset engine light to try and see if it would switch over with the solenoid but the light came back on 10 mins later scanned it and its still bank 2. Any sugestions to try before having timing chain done?!?!?! HELP!!!

I had a cam timing code that was thrown a few months ago, pulled both vct's, cleaned them with throttle body cleaner, dipped them in oil and then re-installed them in opposite banks. Got the same code, reset the computer with my code reader, and no more code since. I think I originally got the code because I failed to clean the vct''s and dip them in oil prior to re-installing them after they had been out of the engine for about a week when I did the timing chains. When I did clean them and re-install, I disconnected the battery but did not drain any residual current in the system so the computer retained the code. Try disconnecting the battery and leaving the lights on, I have heard that even though the lights will not come on, it will drain any current that is remaining in the pcm so that it will clear properly. Then when reconnected, do the battery relearn process. Hope this helps.
