Default Overhead console

Did the 2004 to 2008 STANDARD cabs ever have an overhead console option? My sales litature does not show one, and I've never seen any reference to one on this forum.

I've never removed the headliner, so I'm not sure if a standard cab has any metal bracketry required to mount an overhead console (do the crew/screw cabs have special brackets above the headliner?).

I'd like to add a mini type overhead console if it's possible, barring having to weld in brackets.

Thanks! I'll guess because of it's size that no special brackets were used. Looks like it just mounted simply to the overhead liner, using it's cardboard for support.

I dont have a picture of mine right now but my Screw has the one that you can slide back and forth between the front and back seats. Not sure what purpose it serves to be able to slide it back and forth other than giving more head room if someone were to be sitting in the center w/ 3 people sitting in front. It doesnt have a DVD or anything it just opens up to give a spot for someone to put their sunglasses or something.

This type won't work in a standard cab I'm thinking (small cab vs extended cab roofline).

I did some parts searching on the Ford parts places; it looks like there's an upper piece (above the roof liner) for this mini console, the console, and a roofliner with the hole cut into it. While I'm sure I could cut my exising liner, the upper and lower piece are expensive if bought new.

I guess I'll check the bone yards for these two pieces next time out.

I just went out and looked at mine. You could put this is yours if you really wanted (the slider) it just looks like you would just have to cut it down to be the appropiate length.

I'll guess I could cut the tubes, but the required forward and rear mounting for it may be an issue. I'll have to investigate this on a junker the next time I visit a salvage yard.

Thanks for checking!

No problem. Really though now that i think about it. not sure that it would make all the much sense to have a slider in there were you only have the length of a Scab, Screw makes some sense. But i have never moved mine.
