Default Overdrive Shudder

So I drive a 10th gen but I have hit a snag figuring out my dad's 2007 F150 5.4 4x4 wt the 4 speed trans.

It goes through the gears just fine until it shifts into OD around 45 the tc is locked and you try to accelerate gradually. Then it feels like the tc is locking and unlocking in really quick succession, maybe 5 or 6 bumps, but if you push any harder than gradually on the throttle it accelerates just fine.

Took it in to be rebuilt and yesterday we got it back and the problem is still there. Is there any chance that this isn't transmission related?

I already ran a scan for codes and checked my live data and see nothing that would cause the shudder.

Thanks in advance guys.

No misfires? A lot of people mistake misfires for transmission problems.

That's where my thoughts first ran. So I ran a mode 6 test and it came back with 304 misfires stored on the ECU across all cylinders. What I was feeling would have easily been 2 cylinders and should have had a count of over 5k.

Last tune up? And were the boots changed with the plugs?

Did yall really pay for a new trans?

Wasted money on a trans rebuild.
Change your plugs, and as mentioned, the boots/springs as well.

Will do. The truck has 309xxx miles and the trans was far from crisp so rebuilding it was coming one way or another.

Yep, I agree now. That's awesome it is still going at 300k.
But if you aren't sure the last time the plugs were done, I'm willing to bet it's time.
A MAF and Throttle body cleaning, did wonders on my truck also.

I'll give it a go sometime this weekend and see if I can at least rule out the maf and other sensors. Thank yall for your insight. I'll chime in when I get it straight.
