Default Opinion: Fix or Sell?

So i bought this 2004 f150 with 175,000 km on for $4000. I put on a K&N CAI and flowmaster dual exhaust. When i bought the guy had already put a new motor in b/c old one was shot (new one has 77,000 km on it now). Now my transmission is gone in it. It needs a tail light and windshield thats it and i will fix both of those

So in your opinion, should i fix the truck and sell it OR fix it and keep it? It has 177,800 km on it. Is it worth fixing even? if so with a new motor (now with 77,000 km) and new tranny, plus after market stuff, whats my truck worth? Its all leather and loaded too. with new tires with 85% tread left

Please respond as i havent been able to find a thread like this and need some opinions please!!

thks in advance!

Aww man, that's tough I'm sorry! Honestly if it was my situation, I would probably fix it, 4k isn't bad, the other stuff you can fix over time.

You US guys dont understand how low these trucks are worth up here,I dont know OP's financial situation but if it were me I'd trade it in.Im currently looking for a full 4 door truck and looking at all the offerings from Ford,Dodge,GM and Honda (yes im not a brand loyalist)My truck is near showroom condition with under 100,000kms and im having a hard time swallowing what the values of these truck are, weather it be a fully jammed XTR or an STX.Only reason im even thinking of selling is because I have 2 car seats in my truck and the split doors and interior space isnt working for me anymore.
His 04 at most is probably worth 6 grand tops and to throw another $4000 into a 9 yr old truck isnt worth it IMO
Most places are offering me between $10-12 for my 08!

Trans and windshield should be 3k tops. And its almost always cheaper to fix than to dump it for nothing and buy another.

If you think you will drive it another 10 years than I'd say fix. You're probably not going to get much of nothing for it the way it sits (sounds like by what qwikz74 is saying you may not get much trade in even if you fix). If I wasn't planning on keeping it a long time I would dump it. If it were me I'd fix it and drive it another 170,000km.

So now you have a truck worth almost nothing because it doesn't move, if the engine is sound, fix the transmission and call it a day. As far as us U.S. guys, if I was in Canada I would not buy anything used due to the high cost of repairs/replacement.
