We have two chevy guys in our truck circle, and they both run Royal Purple tranny fluid and have no regret doing it.

I use Royal purple in everything I own from the trucks to the lawn mower. Greatest stuff on the face of the planet as far as I am concerned. The company I work for did some testing with Royal purple 15W40 in a couple of our trucks and long story short the results were amazing!

What's that run you for an engine oil change? I'm using RP in my diffs and was planning to do the tranny but I'd imagine it'll get pricey doing the regular oil changes.

Also, how often do you change the oil now? I've heard some folks pushing it to a ridiculous mileage between changes due to RP.

Price for the oil changes on the 5.4 is about $75 give or take a couple bucks. I change it every 10,000 miles. When I first switched to RP I did some testing of my own. Oil samples and change the filter every 5,000 miles. the truck went 23,000 miles before needing an oil change.

I have been using thier oil in my engine and changing every 4,500-5,000 miles. It's good stuff. But pricey, yes!

Any suggestions as to which viscosity to use? 5w-20 or 0w-30?

I use 5W30 personally. Stupid hot summers and winters that probably resemble your summers Don't really require "thin" oils. You should be fine with either weights although the 0W30 would probably suit you a bit better in the winter.
