Default Okay finally gothe to it

Okay got into the whole timing deal with all new genuine ford parts. The adjuster/tensioner failed on the passenger side causing a complete destruction of the lower plastic guides and causing the chain to eat into the cover. It appears also it may have not been getting enough oil to the chain.that should be solved with the new melling. Did the new vtc deals also the injectors were not the best but I purchased new ones. Have new lifters going in also. Cam lobes looked good and normal wear. New water pump going on along with oil pump. Probably jump back to the 5 20 as I have been using 10 30 full sun maybe go to 5 30 later but I think the 10 30 was a little much. So it will have all ford oem stuff on it from injectors down.hopefully this will do the trick. Have to tell you the truck was running great. I just decided it was time. I dodged a bullet. New cats and sensors going in along with new crank sensor and cam sensors. Just be advised if you have a high mileage 5.4 those are plastic guides and plastic housings for the tensioner. Don't go with anything else but fomoco stuff phasers etc.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. How many miles did your truck have and what year is it?

This spring I plan to replace the timing components on my 2004 and will install the upgraded 360 oil pump for sure.

250 on the clock 2004 fx4 I put the 340 melling in after reading everything about the 360 and 340 they are both top notch and a vast improvement jasper uses the 360 I guess but lots of folks on here put the 340 on with good results something about volume or something.. The lifters I got from EPWI they are american made and seal power thats the only thing I did not get from oem select.

Wow, that will feel like a brand new truck again! Lot of work, but waaaaay cheaper than buying a new truck.

Yep after reading some more horror stories and not willing to do this again. I purchased the genuine ford metal tensioners. spendy but they are fail safe. well worth it. had to order the tools the valve spring compressor was hard to find no one has them and if they do they were spendy as hell and you had to wait sometimes a month or more so finally went to summit and they said they could ship the OTC brand out monday cost 130 bucks but you know you have to have it. Also got the other tools on amazon for a good price.

Now here is a good one I was getting the codes for the Cats having reached the threshold..both sides so I ordered the pre assembled jobs off ebay 40 about 450 free shipping out of the buffalo are. They look good and the welds were solid. Anywho after they were off the cats were clean. Nothing in them at all straight pipes lol so that answered the threshold codes deal 250 thou and the cats were straight pipes lol.
