Oil change how often? 2008 with 138k

Oil change how often? 2008 with 138k.

Just had my oil and filter and air filter changed today?
And looked at the mile sticker they put on you windows to remind you of the next oil and filter change job. I'm currently at 138,816 and they set my next oil change at 141,016. Which is only 2,200 miles. Is that normal for a 138k mileage 2k for the next oil change?

No...they want your money. Depends what kind of oil they are putting in it. It should be 5W-20 syn blend motorcraft or equivalent... which should be changed every 5K miles. Even if they are using regular old motor oil it needs to be changed every 3K miles. Full syn oil 7.5K miles. You also need to ensure they are installing a quality oil filter with an anti drain back feature. Again a Motorcraft filter would be best bet.

Check your manual. Should be around 7,500 miles unless heavy duty usage.

The manual on my truck says every 5,000 miles, but I change mines every 3,000 miles.
5W20 Synth Blend

I pull trailers on a weekly basis, carry loads, and drive the highways constantly at 70 when I'm not pulling or carrying.

On top of that, summers here in SE Texas are often close to 100 daily. Especially for the month of august.

I check the dipstick each time I'm getting gas. By 2500 miles, the dipstick is getting pretty dark.

So that's why I change every 3,000 miles.

This is what I go by. Plus it's easy to remember since I got the truck with 100K.

OCI (oil change interval) should theoretically not change based on what oil you are using, though it is popular to extend the manufacturers recommended OCI when using synthetic oils.

Dirty oil is a big problem on these engines

Don't do extended oil changes . Try to use full syn but not so expensive that it will hurt if you dump it before 5k . The combustion carbon really screws this engine up .
A lot of us run marvel m oil to help slowly clean screens and oil ports . Use the mc oil filter ,wally world cheap it has good anti drain back valve .
At these miles don't do engine flush as it will break stuff loose and clog stuff up . If you are going in to do timing job you can do one then .

I have 133k on my '07 and change the oil around 5-7k miles. I usually send a sample to Blackstone labs for them to analyze.

I do 5k, no matter if it's dino or synthetic oil.

Thank you all for your replies. I will be changing oil now every 4 to 5k. I don't do any hauling other than a motorcycle and trailer sometimes. So should be good to go at that interval.
