Oh my dang spark plugs....
Well I should have seen this coming but I thought I’d made all preparations. I got the Lisle 65600 tool and my trusty breaker bar. I allowed them to soak in carb cleaner after getting the engine hot.
Starting on the drivers side, the frontmost one came out nice and easy, no heachaches. The next one in was STUPID tight and I used my breaker bar. Pop. The metal collar came off the whole plug, picture below. Unable to ge the Lisle tool on it. Crap. Next one in, same thing, same failure. No tool access. That’s where I stopped.
Now I’ve ordered the 65700 (which I didn’t know existed) with the porcelain pulled and a stubby 3/8” impact. Lets see how this goes when they get here today.

Got the truck with 117k. I was told the plugs were replaced around 80k. At about 120k it developed a tick and it ended up being a loose plug. Low and behold, two piece plugs! I’m at 135k now. Between work, school, and storm deployments, it’s been a difficult time to find a day to do them.

I believe the 65700 comes with the pusher tool which will allow you to bust up the porcelain left in there.. then you can get the extractor in there and pull it out. You are going to need something to suck out the busted up porcelain.. like a small tube attached to a shop vac.

Lenn, those plugs definitely did not get replaced. Sorry you're dealing with this! I used an air impact on mine, as I had seen stuff online that if you stop and start, it can cause it to bind worse. That's after I loosened them 1/4 turn and soaked them in liquid wrench overnight, and ran a bottle of cleaner through the engine (not sure if it truly helps anything).
