Default 4x4 issue

I took my 2014 f150 in and they said I needed new iwe. They replaced them and the solenoid. But one side was leaking. Problem went away except occasional trying to go into 4x4. So I tried doing some research and repair shop didn't know what to do and I found out how to test the vacuum. Found the check valve was bad. Eventually found the new iwe was leaking after that and took it back to have them out in new iwe. Now everything is holding vacuum and can't find any vacuum lose. Same day as new iwe is put in I'm back to having the same issue as I did before taking it in, except now I know everything is good. The solenoid on the dash has been replaced 2x. It was working better with a vacuum leak than it is now with full vacuum. Anyone have any ideas?

I am running into similar issues with my 2014 F150 Lariat. Both IWE's were recently replaced and I am getting a grinding sound while in 2WD. If I shift to 4A, the sound goes away. I have just checked out all the vacuum lines with a vacuum pump and put a vacuum gauge on the solenoid and everything seems fine. The 3-way check valve by the solenoid seems to hold vacuum as well as the vacuum reservoir. The only issue I could find is that the new passenger's side IWE is leaking a little. It will lose around 2.5 HG in 1 minute. Per the Ford bulletin, it should lose 0.5HG or less in that time. I guess I will replace the solenoid and check valve and see what that does but I don't really think that is the issue.

Buy a harbor freight vacuum pump/brake bleeder. Check up top next the the IWE. Then check right next to the wheel end. Could just be a vacuum hose. Or still the wheel end. Sounds like a pretty big vacuum leak to me.

You just said your wheel end is leaking... why would you replace the solenoid and check valve ?

They were done after the iwe's we're replaced and before I found that one of the new ones was leaking. Since I have found that one is not engaging/disengaging like it should. I had that replaced and everything was good for a few days. Then it happened again. One of them is bad, not fully engaging or disengaging.

I'm a little confused. So now you are planning to replace the wheel end? If the vacuum is bleeding off of it thats where you need to start. Sounds like it's just a bad part you got. Is it under warranty? Did you do it or did a shop do it?

fully engaged will happen when no vacuum... turn the motor off wheel ends engage. unless the vent lines are blocked. vacuum holds the wheel end out... disengaged. if all the vacuum line and IWE solenoid check good .. you have a bad... leaking wheel end since you said you replace the check valves and tested the vacuum box, there’s nothing else. a CAI will not effect the vacuum the motor produces. When i heard that i lol...the motor produces the most vacuum at idle.
