2008 F150 Hood Release Not Working
The hood release cable on my 2008 F150 is not working; it moves as it should however does not release the hood, makes no sound, and does nothing to indicate that it's not just decorative.
I noticed some older threads on this topic but they were more related to the latch. Does anyone have ideas?
I could go down to the dealership and twirl my hair but I'd rather just get the damn thing open here.
Help appreciated!

(sorry this is duplicate from General Discussion, I'll try to delete that one)

Did you have someone jiggle on the edge of the hood as you pull the lever. It is important to keep the latching mechanism lubricated with a white grease or Fluid Film. DO NOT USE A SILICONE BASED LUBRICANT. If it gets into your intake in anyway it will damage your O2 sensors. The only other cause would be a broken cabvle but this is unlikely with the truck being so new. If you had any collision work done- that could be a reason also.

SOLVED Thanks JimFX4
Thanks, that did it. My garage is full of tools but I don't keep a tool of the human variety on hand so I had to wait for the mail driver.
I'll have to go get some lube that doesn't taste like strawberries and take care of that.
Appreciate the help, this was about to make my day really annoying.

08 F150 LIMITED
You may need to adjust the latch up some, they get knocked down over time and use......take a 10mm socket and ratchet, loosen the bolts and pull up on the latch and retighten the bolts , now try your hood pull and see if that's good enough or if you need to do so more adjusting. It's pretty simple to do.

My cable was starting to seize right where the the pull handle is. When I pull on the handle, it didn't retract back in (like it should) and the hood wouldn't release. Make sure your handle is pushed back in.
