Hey everyone. I have a noise coming from under my truck that sounds like a loose heat shield. I visually looked at it and smacked on a few things and found nothing that was obviously loose. It starts at about 2000 RPMs. I put the truck in neutral as I was going down the road and it goes away. I powerbraked it and couldn't get it to do it. Any ideas???

When I bought my truck it had the same issue, dealer said it was the heat shield. Long story short, it wasn't, it was a bad u-joint and dealership fixed it. Maybe look into that

It could also be the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. Mine sounded like a heat shield rattling.

mine is at ford since last Tuesday because the same noise.

Did your tensioner pulley look wobley or make a noise when you spun it? I took off my belt and all of the pulleys seem tight and quiet. And, I figure if it's a pulley wouldn't it do it all the time and not just in gear?? Thanks for the input.
I had a mechanic check the u joints and he said they seem fine. I hate to have to do it, but looks like the next step will be the dealership!!
