Nitto Trails or Toyo MT
3 Attachment(s)
Let me fill you in; I want the best looking tire, I also want the most capable in snow, mud, and highway. I drive 50 miles a day at 60 mph. I hear both last to 50,000 miles as long as you rotate them every 3,000 miles.I want the one with the best MPG for all highway. I will put rancho quick lift 2.5 and RS9000xl at the same time. ( tire size 305-55-20- Nitto or 33x12.5- Toyo)
Thanks This is my truck Attachment 207974 This is the wheel set up 20x10 fuel hostage Attachment 207975 Or Attachment 207976 |
I was in ur shoes a week ago so I went with toyo the cheaper one which still wasn't cheap...
|
Ever thought about getting the Toyo Open Country AT2?
|

They ride real well I haven't tested them offroad yet. But highway couldn't ask for a better ride from a mt!

Well good I wish I could lift however I have 3.55 and I don't think that would work. I would do a lift but idk if that would work
|
this is choice basically between looks and preferance. they are both awsome tires and i have seen both do things that many would call imposible. i personally like the toyos better out of the two. but i wouldnt ever trade my bfg's for either!

AT vs MT the MT will almost always have worse MPG Allot of AT tires are better in Snow then MT's. Snow is a completely different animal then mud. |
I'm excited to see how my mpg's will look with some 20x12 wheels.

Did you have your speedo corrected for tire size? besides the weight/mass of a larger tire you will also read slower so the MPG's are not as accurate AT vs MT the MT will almost always have worse MPG Allot of AT tires are better in Snow then MT's. Snow is a completely different animal then mud. Yes I will get the speedo fixed with a edge tuner, my MPGs suck like 10 as it sits I don't drive it ( have a car for the moment to drive) I will be driving it as stated next month. I need either plugs or coils BAD! So basically anything above ten is great! Which one is Best in the snow I know they aren't great. Thanks again |
I have nitto trails and I love them and instead to replace with the same tire. They ride super smooth in town and hoghway. But when off road dig nicely and catch traction quick mine are even at 20%. And they are quiet on the highway.

What is your MPG? Did you get good wear, how many miles? Do they chip your paint I don't want flares however I love ( as I am sure you do) my silky black paint! |

My personal favorite out of every tire i have had are hankook dyna pro AT's
Never drove the MT's of them but from people I know / online they are just as good. The AT's in the snow were miles ahead of my TSL's To the guy who said the Nitto trails are quiet... what are you comparing them too? Granted all my experience with them were on diesel trucks... but they certainly not quiet. Although I have had louder tires then them. |

Ill never buy another nitto tire. My set of mad graps lasted around 25k miles and that was with rotating them regularly. I didn't have my trail graps for 6 months before I had one blow a belt or some kind of internal damage and form a giant lump in it. I actually found the tire was out of round when I rotated them and the bad tire got on the front. Drove it no more than 10 miles and it destroyed a tire rod end. Got it alleged. Still shaking horribly, swapped the tires back and it fixed it. Called nitto they told me to take it to a dealer, took it to two and the both said I would have to buy a new tire while the bad one is shipped off

I pulled 45k out of TSL's on my diesel even towing heavy with them.
Personally it depends on what the vehicle is doing for what tires I pick. the tires on my car would be lucky to see 7k ;) |
Michelin LX2 have a 70,000 mile warranty if all you want is miles ;) talk about the least aggressive looking tire you can find though :D
they do do every bit of that though. |
Thanks!

I have some Nitto Trails and love them. Sure there is a little road noise but nothing that I expected. I don't even complain about it because it's so minimal. And the looks of the tires are so worth all the compliments that I get. And yes, your mileage will drop because of the big ol heavy tire that your putting on. I have an Evo, and it makes all the difference in the world. Everywhere I go, strangers ask about my rim/tire combo. I did a ton of research and read that people were not getting a lot of miles out of the MT's, so ended up getting the Trails. We had a couple of descent snow falls this year and this tire was freakin awesome in it. This pic is of a smaller snow fall, but we did just get 15" of snow the other day, it was awesome performer in the snow. I haven't hit the mud trails yet, but I feel confident that these tires will work great!!

I have 373 gears and do a lot of city driving or in traffic but according to my bully dog and truck both say about 14 combined. Not bad for how much I'm in the city plus I'm not the nicest to if. The image idk for sure bought the truck with them on it but I've had it for almost 10 k miles now and they don't look like they have really worn at all. As far as chipping I have notices any at all. And I love to do burn outs and doughnuts in the dirt and gravel. It's exactly what buster said the more aggressive the tread the faster they will wear out. These are a pretty good combination or looks performance and actual drivability IMO. I highly recommend them and according to the tire they are made in America so that's cool to me. Thanks for the help |

If you have decided yet , I'm running 33"x12.5" Toyo open country mt , I get 18mpg on the highway , my tires are at 6/32nd and still very minimal road noise and I find its good in snow mud and hwy but not good on ice, but that's expected with a mt tire

Ya in strapping twins to my truck. I'm saving for them but they might get sidelined. I'm gonna do breaks and stereo around Xmas time then next year 4:56 gears to prepare for 35" tires. And then if all works well ill buy the twins around late next year or soon after that. After that the list is long but that stuff is short term. My hope thought is I still have a couple years left in my tires. I haven't hit the wear bars yet so that's a good thing.
Plus I'm gonna do a body swap to the newer style. |

Man a body swap!!! Haha I was thinking about it but then you see a lot less built 04-08 f150s so I'm just keeping my body and putting the money in long travel. |

I want long travel so Ill do that eventually probably instead of the lift. I just don't like the prerunner look that much anymore. Maybe it's because I live in so cal and see fake ones constantly. So I want a stock look. But beast performance.
|
Thought about tubbing the wheel wells. It works for low riders when they drag frame. I'm gonna go with fiber works I think because if I do pre runner I want to one piece front end. The biggest tire ill run is a 35 I know most run 37 though. My other problem is I love my fat tires and am keeping them so I have to figure that one out.
|
Yeah I've seen there one pieces. Not really my style so I'm having glassworks unlimited hook me up because they're only 30min away from my house. I'm gunna run 37's and crank the coils up so that ill have no contact issues I hope. What do you mean by fat tires.
|
Do you guys know we're I can get a clear bra for the quarter panels or behind the wheels to prevent chips?

I have a 12.5 in wide tire. Most I see look thinner more like a 9in. Ya and as far as the body I'm not completely sold on who I want. I have no opinion on any one yet.

Attachment 208154 Attachment 208155 I think this is what you talking about. This is what I have. Most the 150s I see have them. Maybe I miss understood you. |

Oh yeah I got you. I've been talking to my buddy who has a long travel taco and he said that 12.5 wide tires will be okay but there will most likely be contact issues on the fenders. I'm gunna get 10.5 wide tires just to be safe. |

Will do!
|
Reopened how many miles should I get out of each tire?
|
are you talking about the Toyo? Mine are supposed to last 48k, and the AT2 was supposed to last 33% longer but Toyo said in a press conference it was either 55k or 65k
|
I am running 37x14x20 TOYO AT, couldn't ask for a better tire. When people are saying a 12.5 inch tire is a wide tire it is not that wide. I ran a 33x12.5 on my old Tacoma, a 14in wide tire is a wide tire.
|
Just got my Toyo M/T and I love them so far. Nice little him while driving.
|
Nitto trail??
