Hi, the remote start system is programmed to act as an ignition key.
They need both keys to set it up.
This one is a very sophisticated, it works with the VSM Module.
I have seen them installing these in 2018 vehicles, no issues.
The reviews on this system are at 4.7 out of 5.
It should work fine.
As for the Cam Phaser fix, It fixes a strange ticking noise caused by the phaser solenoids failing.
It mechanically locks out the Cam Phaser.

I installed it on my 2006 F150, it works to bypass the PATS(I spent the extra $ for this module because I didn't want to have a spare key actually in the vehicle). What you get on the new vehicles is it will lock/unlock the doors and stuff through the CANBUS. Our trucks do not support that feature, and you still need to splice into the actual door lock wires.

It works just flawlessly.
It's a Compustar 4000 system.
I am still learning it, but I'm happy!
