New guy question regarding stock stereo upgrade...?
Hey guys... I have a 2004 f150 xl with the stock base am/fm radio. I'm the original owner and this stereo was fine when we lived in the city... but now that we've moved to northern maine the radio stations are far and few between... so I think its time to upgrade. I'd like to go with a stock ford f150 6 cd changer type stereo, I know thats not too fancy, but for this work truck it would be great..... is this swap doable? If so any certain year cd unit i should look to purchase? I guess my main concern is if the plug ins in the back will be a direct fit? Thanks very much in advance. PS.... 134,000 and still going strong. Never back to the dealership for one problem since I drove her home that first day!

I paid about 120$ for my Kenwood and another 20$ for the dash kit and wiring. Took about 20 minutes to get the wiring all lined up and about 30 seconds to put it in the truck. It sounds 100x better than the stock CD player that was in the truck and I can hook up an Ipod/satellite radio through the aux and it plays mp3s. I've had 6 disc changers and they're kind of a waste of time especially if it costs more than an aftermarket cd player. Not to mention if you hang onto the stock stereo, it would be a snap to take out the aftermarket unit and pop in the stocker.
