New Fuel Injectors?

Hi everyone. New to the Ford community. I'm in the process of installing a new 5.4l 3v motor in my 2005 Fx4 (cam phasers / timing component failure).

Anyway, I've read a bit about this model year having issues with fuel injector failures and sticking open ruining an engine. Being that this is a remanufactured engine that I'm installing should i go ahead and replace the injectors at this time? I know usually I wouldn't even think of replacing them until they fail but don't want to junk this motor with all the time and money i'm putting in.

Have the injectors been improved from the 2005 OEM's?

Thanks.

Do you have time to send them out for cleaning/testing. Not to say they could fail in the future but it might save you some money or depending on what you've spent already just go for it and keep these as backups and have them tested for peace of mind

I didn't think they were too bad. I found them on a few sites anywhere from $35 to $45 if this is the correct part number. Anyone know for sure?

I just went on Rock Auto for my 04 and the new ones were in the $100 range. I think you are looking at remanufactured prices which is what I bought there a year or so ago. Just wanted to let you know

I wouldn't use remans

But at $35/ea that's still over $280 --Rock auto doesn't say new or what , up to $419/set for some . I have looked at prices of $80/ea .
I think you are right to go ahead and change them .They can do a lot of damage .

CM5138 seems right for my 05 5.4 3v

Rock auto seems like a fair deal . I think I may stick with those as they are motorcraft . about 25k to go and I will change them again ..

No way anything is new at $35. They are refurbished which I think is ok because they clean and flow test them
