new F-150 quit after mud puddle
The dealer may be taking advantage of the situation, but there wouldnt be a situation had care been taken going through the puddle. They may be advertised as tanks, but at the bottom of every add is a disclaimer that says "professional driver in a controlled situation, do not attempt". So take that however you want, but the bottom line is its dude's fault-not Fords.
Just an update: I got the Service details on what they did, and what they wrote on the bill...
Problem: Dignosed shorted #5 ignition coil and PCM from water. Had standing water on top of intake manifold. Remove all coils and remove water. Replace #5 ign. coil, replace PCM, and reprogram with as data reprogram replace air filter.
Costs: module $700, Core return $100 (and than takes away on bill?) minus $100, Coil AS $74 Element $34 Parts total $708.
Labor: $500
Total is $1256.00

Ok I undertsand some of you guys will not believe me on the speed , but it was 25 mph in 6 inches of water or less on a good dirt road mud puddle, thats the truth. Please quit saying I was somehow going faster, I was not..period.
Knowing what the truth is, is there any other way water can cause that damage, whether it be a leak, something not sealed right, a cracked module or something other than, "dude you must have been going 100 mph"???
Because if speed is the ONLY factor that could cause it, I know that the service dept. is not telling the truth on the repair description etc..and whether I have to pay for it or not, I will not use that dept. again!
