New coil springs?
Okay so I have about 150,000 miles on my '04 FX4. I just replaced the rear shocks and now its time for the front.
My question is do I also need to replace the coil springs?
I am most likely getting the Bilstein 5100 adjustables just to give me about a 1" lift in the front, I don't want to mess with the geometry too much. I've read so much great things about the Bilsteins but are the old coils good enough to put these quality shocks on?

I would with that much mileage. If your ride is stock you can buy strut assembly just about anywhere, however, if you have a leveler or lift then you will probably have to order or go to specialty shop.
If your going the Bilstein route I put these on mine:
Moog Coil Spring 81118
Moog Strut Mount K80218 or K80219
Bilstein Front Leveler Shock 24-122986
Bilstein Rear Shock 33-186009

It's all stock. I am positive the front shocks were replaced about 60,000 miles ago but I think they're the original coils. The ride is not THAT bad but I'm sure once I do replace the shock and/or springs I will have a different opinion.

In my honest opinion if it isn't broke don't fix it. But that is from a 17 year old, if you want to get new coils and pay for them then do it, but personally at this point in doing mods on my truck replacing things that aren't broke aren't on the list.

I hear you bigbucks243 I'm all about that too. That's exactly why I'm asking. If I'm going to spend $300 on some new shocks I want to make sure I get the most out of them, life and performance.

I don't think you can go wrong with bilsteins, I'm getting them in the future when I finish my lift kit. As for coils if they look nice and the ride isn't bad I'd leave them.

I looked into these and almost got a pair but I don't want the 2.5" lift. I just want to raise it up about an inch. I hear nothing but good things about both so really it's preference, do I was adjustable height or adjustable ride. I 'm choosing height right now.

The ranchos don't give you the full 2.5" most people net 1.5-2" that I've read
