Default New Coil connector pigtails to original wires

I had to replace the plug-in connector to an ignition coil on my 2004 5.4 triton but the new connector had a black & white wire on it. The original wires coming from the main wiring bundle has wires of different colors.
Does it matter which of the black or white wires splice up to the original wires?
I spliced the wires but still get misfires from my engine.
could a wrong splice of wires cause a misfire?
If so, which wire ( black & white) goes back into the original wiring bundle?

Which cylinder did you re wire the pigtail on and which cylinder(s) are misfiring?

what tests have you done to diagnose the misfiring cylinder(s)?

Also did you solder the connector or just use a crimp connector?

The issue started on #6 with constant P0306 scan code.
I replaced, spark plug, coil, injector, & lastly, the wiring connector.
I crimped the wires, no solder.
My 2004 has the usual engine ticking & sounds like a diesel but have replaced the cam phasers & VTC units.
It still idles rough.

not clear if it was only cyl 6, or if you have multiple misfiring.

If you are confident in work listed then it’s probably time to check compression (but I’d probably solder and test that connection first).

As far as I know, only #6 was the misfiring one. Will likely take to shop & check compression as final check.
I just rewired the coil. I looked at the other coils wiring & followed the same pattern found on #7 & #8.
Strange thing though is all coils have different colored wires.
#5 green w/yellow stripe & red w/green stripe
#6 red w/green stripe &red w/yellow stripe
#7 pink w/blue stripe & red w/green stripe
#8 yellow w/red stripe & red w/green stripe
All the above wired left to right on the coils as you look at them on the coil. 🤔

If you haven’t been able to be checking and clearing codes on your own (and understand what you are currently dealing with), I would recommend stopping throwing further money at parts, or professional diagnosis until you can (determine codes).

Basic code readers are really cheap and readily available. They’ll also pay for themselves many times over throughout ownership period.

humm....ok. Thanks.
Likely will & will run this pig over to a shop & have them hookup their computer & try to put all this to rest!😖
Will be worth the 90 bucks if I figure it out & sleep again...!😟
