Need new Radio for 2005 F150
I need to replace the radio in my 2005 F150. It's been awhile since I had to buy anything like this. How would I know what to look for? Is it remove the old radio and install new one hoping the steering buttons work?

Im in the same boat, I have been wanting to upgrade my base stock radio. Just don't know which is best for what I want. Crutch field is a good place to start and search.

+1 on Crutchfield. They're the experts plus you can enter your truck info into it and it'll tell you what fits into it (from head units to amps to subwoofers and more). Super user friendly with instructions and also has demo videos. Also +1 on the double din (has a screen). As for you steering controls, no usually they won't work with after market head units unless you buy a separate adapter for it.

YES I WANT A BACK UP CAMERA!!! But thats in the future for now. Im gonna need a radio with a screen for the back up camera and maybe to sync my iPhone? Is that asking to much? I don't have steering wheel controls, although I miss not having them. What is BT? I probably know what it is but at this time of night I am dumb founded.

I put in a Kenwood about 6 months ago, I love it.
Does BT, backup camera, plays DVD's for kids, has all the Iphone/android sync, Pandora, Sirius radio, etc etc. Also the software is very intuitive and responds well, very good unit. Here is a pic:

Not saying you NEED all of this gear, but this is what I used to upgrade the headunit and speakers in the truck. I've even separated it into MUST HAVES and LIKE TO HAVES for you.
MUST:
Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS - New head unit, take your pick, this is mine
METRA 40CR10 Antenna Adapter - Needed to mate up our antenna with a new head unit.
Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface - Retain Steering Wheel Controls
Metra 95-5812 Double DIN Installation Kit for Select 2004-up Ford Vehicles - Otherwise it won't fit into the dash hole
NICE:
MicroBypass ALL AVH-X Video In Motion Interface - Allows for viewing video while moving, self explanatory
Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 6 x 8-Inches Full Range 3-Way Speakers - New speakers for all four doors
Metra 72-5600 Ford Speaker Harness 1998-UP - Harnesses so you don't need to cut the OEM speaker connectors off
Metra Electronics 70-5520 Wiring Harness for Select 2003-Up Ford Vehicles - Makes it so you don't need to splice into the OEM harness at the radio, this is listed as a NICE to have but really is almost required if you know nothing about stereos
Metra 70-5520AUX Auxiliary Input Retention Harness for Select Ford Vehicles - If you want to keep the aux on your dash, assuming you have one
Metra AX-USB-35EXT 3.5mm iPod to USB Extension Cable - 27-Inch - Black - I just stuck this on here so I could have access to the USB port on the radio, but I also use it as another aux now
Ford F150/F250/F350/F450 Backup Camera with Tailgate Handle for Universal Monitors (RCA) (Color: Black) - The backup cam I selected, see build thread for pics

There are literally so many choices here. The best thing you can do is write down all the features you want. Such as easy of use, style, Bluetooth, camera, touchscreen, color, user interface, ect ,ect it goes on forever. Make that list then try to find all those features in your price range. Personally this is what I have and I love it! http://www.autopumpkin.com/car-dvd-p...-wifi-dvr.html Too bad I think they have discontinued this model.
