Default Need help with surging on 5.4

2006 F150 5.4 Triton. Recently it's started having surging acceleration from stop/low speed if I get on it pretty good. Running down the highway or at above 45 or so in OD, if I try to normally accelerate to pass or go up a hill it misses and jerks bad enough it feels like transmission is slipping. If I'll take it out of overdrive it runs great. Doesn't miss or anything, idles perfect. If it starts surging and I immediately let off the gas and go right back on it, runs great. Changed fuel filter and still acting up. Just wanna get some ideas. I can and do alot of my own work, but, I'm just not able to diagnose these newer cars because just never have problems with Fords. Has 155k on it and hasn't had plugs changed yet....I'm never home or anywhere long enough. Going to change plugs and run chemical tune-up through dealer. Any other suggestions before I spend a fortune at the dealer?

PS....Check engine light has never come on or any issues. Just on acceleration.

plugs. 155k on what are supposed to be 100k plugs, you did well! But yeah you solved your own problem here. if you got the cash....change the coil packs too, they are really 100k as well.
good luck!

Plugs first, but shop around, they can be big money.

Read through this real quick:

Just my personal opinion, original equipment is the way to go.....if the motorcraft ones that came on it last 100k or more.....that is good enough for me!
