Went out and started it up it ran fine. Did the relearn and drove around for a good while. At first it seemed like it was under powered but sometimes it was OK. Got back home let it idle for a bit and revving it up then it started to run a little rough then it act again like it was running out of fuel then stalled but as always I'm able to restart it immediately.

It was worth a try. My problem is that my closes dealer is 2 hrs away. A local garage here just got some kind of new diagnostic computer so I may drop in today to see what it is. I might drop it off there soon to see what they might say might be wrong with it if they can.

Thanks for letting us know what it turned out to be. Is there a single one or 8, one for each cylinder?

Default I think he means fuel pressure sensor

There is only one, it is on the drivers side fuel rail . It has a vacuum lead as well as a electrical connection . It controls the FDMN . The system does not have a return line to the tank . Fuel pump only runs on demand keeping fuel pressure on rail about 40psi . The vacuum helps sensor by letting it know the demand that the engine is reving up .
The fdmn module should be changed anyway to prevent the corrosion problem that will come next .
Why it failed in a mud puddle is puzzling to me . I would have pulled the boots off the spark plugs and dried out the wells after changing FDMN . . Ford removed the schrader valve on the fuel rail making it difficult to check real pressure .
