need help installing sub woofer in 2005 F150 supercrew
I found the wire in the slit in the carpet under the backseat but I cannot get more than the plug out. It is not long enough to reach the plug in the factory sub woofer. Is there an adapter wire so it can reach the sub woofer plug? Is the wire that runs to the back longer and just can't pull it out anymore? Do you have any suggestions

It's on the "stereo/audio" forum. Simply put, if you plan to install the factory subwoofer (that gets mounted under the rear seat), then you need to make sure you have the correct head unit (radio). It is easy to find out; remove your radio and you will have more than just the one wire plug connector harness in the radio. The one on the right (looking at the back of the radio) is the power, front/rear/left/right speaker connector, what All stock radio (head units) have. The one in the middle is for the steering wheel control as well as the overhead DVD movie entertainment system. The plug on the left is for the factory subwoofer (audiophile) system; it is the smallest of the 3 "female" plugs in the radio. If you do a search on the above mentioned forum and do some "digging" you will find that the factory harness that connects to the radio (head unit) is tied to a metal support bracket behind the radio (in most "deluxe" equipped trucks; the basic models like my STX don't have this cable, nor do they have the rear harness; seeing as how I don't have the back seat either in my standard cab). So, you seem to be a lucky one for having the connector under the rear seat carpet; you are halfway there!

You are part way home. Your head unit (stock radio) will need to have the plug that this connection you found under your rear seat will eventually connect to. Read this thread completely to answer your question(s):

My Reg. Cab STX has the factory sub harness in it, but no sub. i found it behind the driver seat in a hole in the rubber floor, with a nut mounted in the floor. Its defiantly factory. So to all you reg cab owners, its worth a peek. Found it when i was sprayin some mothers on my floor to make it shine.
