Need help identifying a part on 2004 4.6 Intake Manifold
I broke a bolt off a part while trying to remove the EGR valve from it. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what the name of the part is. It sits on top the intake manifold and is where the Throttle Body attaches from the front and the EGR valve attaches on the drivers side. It's basically a 90 degree tube with a flange that bolts onto the top of the manifold. I can't find any reference to it anywhere.

So I found that the part is called a throttle body spacer. It's not what I think of when I think of spacers but the next problem is actually trying to find one. Apparently Ford doesn't make them anymore and I can't find them anywhere online. Junk yards here I come. 😕
From your photo it looks like you broke off one of the bolts that attaches the EGR valve to the throttle body spacer, if this is correct I would do one of the following;
Take it to a machine shop and have them remove the broken bolt
or
if you want to try to get it out
Soak the broken bolt in PB Nut Blaster over night.
Drill a hole through the bolt and try an "easy-out",
if that does not work you could consider a method that I have used in this identical situation and that is to drill the broken part of the bolt out using a slightly oversized drill and then attach the EGR valve using a through bolt with a stop nut on the backside.
There are other methods of removing the broken bolt and using an insert but the above works.
Buying a throttle body spacer may turn out to be a PITA and it will cost sometime.
BTW
From your photos I can see what looks like a broken (looks burned in two or maybe just melted) flat ground strap. If it is a ground strap you need to replace it with an identical flat ground strap.
There was a post a couple of days ago that discussed why this strap is flat shaped it had something to do with high frequency interference which I am sure can't be good with todays computer controlled everything.

Thanks so much for your reply. I did wind up going to a local machinist. Charged $20 to drill out the broken bolt and put in a helicoil.

Let us know how the bolt fix comes out.
Thanks for your reply. That strap in the original photo I posted was actually a piece tape that had come loose off on of the hoses.
As for the bolt, I had a local machinist drill, tap and install a helicoil.
