Oh yeah man I know, you want it right, and yeah you won't be able to tell the brand on it unless its stamped into the steel. If you measured exactly and its only 1.5" and not 1.625" then you have a generic. But keep in mind that if the truck wasn't aligned after the install its not at full height and you'll want that checked to save on tires as well. Even if it is the full 1.625" it could still be generic and there's nothing wrong with that, it would be a challenge to screw up a spacer and nobody will see it anyway.
There's also the possibility that blocks were used on the rear or the springs were upgraded and that's why its not sitting level with the kit.

It doesn't matter if it's AS, HBS, etc. What matters is the measurement of the kit that is installed. If you have one that measures 1.5", it's going to give you the same amount of lift no matter what brand it is. If you are looking for 2.5" of level up front, you will need to remove one of the current ones and measure it to see if it's 1.625". Just FYI, going higher that 2.5" will cause your suspension parts to wear much quicker. And yes, the leveling kit will cause a slightly rougher ride vs. getting the Bilstein's like someone else had mentioned. It's all personal preference and what budget you have to work with, and what suits your needs. I don't know if you're looking to be completely level as the end result, but if you are, then I would check your rear block and see if you are still stock there or not. If you're planning to put an AAL on and you don't have a stock block, you will have quite a bit of rake. Again, not sure if that's that look you are going for or not. Also, like has been mentioned a couple times already, you have to make sure you have an alignment after it is installed to get the true amount of lift from the level. That might be worth getting checked before you dig into trying to check the spacers. Might save you some time.

Wow what a good idea, it's almost like i didn't think of that except in my original post I said I did, and that doesnt answer that actual meaning of the post. But thanks!
I'm saying that i believe a cheap 2.5" spacer is actually 2.5" tall. But from what i've read an autospring spacer that lifts it 2.5" is actually only 1.5" tall for the spacer itself, the rest is the angles that does it i assume. So i'm trying to figure out what the hell I have in there!
Putting a level in shouldnt change your ride at all should it, your just moving the stock mounting location down, but your not changing anything with your shock or spring compressions or lengths. I get what your saying, but $80 compared to $400 is more attractive to me at this point.

I'm in the market for a leveling kit myself but I'm not sure of what size of lift I'm looking for. I want the truck just to look level cause now its got one hell of a rake.

LR measurement - LF measurement = X
RR measurement - RF measurement = Y
(X + Y) / 2 = the amount of lift to make the truck look level.
Typically, the average difference in the rear to front measurement is somewhere between 1.5" and 3". I found mine to be about 2.25" ... so I ordered the 2" Auto Spring leveling kit. It worked great.
As others have mentioned, I would not go with anything more than a 2.5" leveling kit.

Well for an update, I ended up ordering the 2.5" AS kit just to have in hand and started ripping out the old ones just to see what they were. They ended up being juuuuuust a hair under 1.5". So i'm glad i ordered the AS kit. Swapped them out with the new ones and as of now my truck sits spot on completely level all the way around. But i haven't taken it in for an alignment yet. Assuming it was in alignment before with the other kit, will i see an increase in front end height from having it realigned? I don't care if it goes higher or stays the same, I just don't want it to drop any. I have a procomp AAL to throw in the rear if it ends up being raised in the front!
