Maybe he was a perfectionist, I would not do an alignment on a vehicle with worn parts, it puts a lot of liability on the shop and in some states the tech that did the actual work. There is no such thing as a release or waiver, once you work on it, that babies your's. As a professional mechanic you know you are doing the customer a disservice when you try and put a band-aid on bullet wound.

I never used a tie rod tool. Just stuck a big pipe wrench on it and gave it a twist. Came right off.

Wow. When I see quote like that I am glad I live most of the year in Mexico. I had the lower ball joints replaced a couple years back and labor was about $25USD.
