Default Vacuum Lines.

In the official TSB from ford it says to remove the vacuum lines at each wheel to let any water drain out that might have gotten in. Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question. But I am a newbie and I haven't really done My own repairs until recently. How do I go about doing that? Would anybody mind posting pics of their location?

thanks!

Having the IWE problem with my '07 F150... my local dealership sold me a new IWE Solenoid but without the rain guard. I figured out how to take out my old one and put in the new one in my existing rain guard. Not hard... just have to use two screwdrivers (three hands would be helpful but I did it alone . Everything looked good until I tried to hook up the electrical... but the electrical connector on the one they sold me is a different shape than the one I was replacing... I'll be returning it tomorrow... turns out I got Motorcraft Part # 6L3Z-9H465-A - I needed 6L3Z-9H465-B.

They wrote up my receipt correctly, but just gave me the wrong part. If you're buying your replacement part, please be aware of this and make sure you get the part you need! Then you can avoid doing the job twice like I am now having to do!

sjtjb239... That was VERY Helpful fella! After just healing up from a thumb surgery and seeing my finances go south... I have been trying to do things myself when I can to save a bit of money. Like just changing out my shocks on my 2004 F150 last weekend, which I earned every dollar I saved! But back to your helpful post... Really great that people like you are willing to share "in detail" there knowledge of things. I will try to pass it forward myself. Thank You.

thank you for this! did your vacuum problem cause anything other than the 4x4 problems? I am wondering if some of my other issues (noise, torque conversion, etc) might be caused by this same issue - - that I am about to fix.

Thanks, great post. I had to replace my solenoid. Problem is when I was putting one of the mounting nuts back on I dropped it into the abyss. Does anyone know the dimensions of the nut so I can get a replacement?

I'm actually having a problem with my 4 wheel drive not engaging. I'm pretty new to all of this and I'm not sure where to start. I have a 06 f150 pictured below. Last night we got a lot of snow and so this morning I went to put it in 4high and its not working. The light on the dash indicates it but I'm not getting the power to the front end. 4low I can feel the transmission change over but still not getting any power to front tires. Wasn't sure if this sounded like a solenoid problems or not. If there's aleady a thread that can help me let me know. I just don't know where to start.

That's what my old solenoid did. A quick thing you could try is unplug the vacuum line from the solenoid and see if it engages the hubs (assuming it's the hubs not engaging). IF this works, it'll indicate the solenoid is not blocking the vacuum (thus keeping the hubs disengaged). This is a very quick check, there's other things you can do like shift it into 4x4, see if the half-shafts move in neutral, jack up the truck with it running, see if the front tire turns or not while in 4x4.

There's a few good write-ups on this (someone also drew a diagram but I can't find it - maybe someone else will chime in):

I did a writeup in 2009 or so but this one is far more detailed .
