I took a short video clip of my startup rattle, I believe this is timing chain noise as a result of my tensioner bleeding down. It only happens when the truck has sat overnight or for at least 2 hours, and never lasts more than a full second. If I hold the pedal to the floor and let the truck crank for 3 or 4 seconds before letting it start there will be no noise. I don't have the $$ for a timing rebuild right now, how bad is this really? When I finally get chains replaced I'm having both phasers done too to get rid of the diesel noise but truck seems to run just fine with no check engine light. VCT solenoids are brand new.
