Default Moving alaska from florida

Wanted to know what your opinions were if its worth putting miles on the vehicle or having it transported. I'm not sure its about a 5,000 mile drive i think. Have not looked it up yet. What would you guys do? Truck has 104k currently. Fuel cost to transport costs are almost fairly close from what my understanding is -

If they are around the same cost I'd transport it...but then again you'd have to fly which could be expensive...unless Southwest flies to Alaska! They are cheap and your bag flies for free too haha

flights not so cheap. its up to me - work is paying for it so i'm not to worried about it either way but my consideration is if i drive its with me and i don't need to wait two weeks or deal with rentals and i can haul a trailer with crap in it....it's all a numbers game realistically...

From what I hear, that's a scenic and adventurous trip. I'd be all over the drive!

Are you military or is this a civilian job? If you're military you could make some bank on the trip. When will you be leaving? I drove from AZ to AK in March. It was still icey but I've seen worse road conditions since then.

If you're not limited on time and can take the scenic route, drive. If you are pressed for time, simply fly and save the miles and wear on your truck and you.

Good luck on the weather difference. Hope your blood thickens up real quick!

Default Trip

Couple of months ago, picked up a truck in L.A. and drove 2k back to Mpls. Beautiful drive but very tiring. Including some sleep time 2 evenings, it still took 48 hours to get home and that's only 40% of your drive. Using that as a base (and I drove from about 6:00-7:00 AM till 10:00-12:00 PM) you're looking at least 6-8 or more like around 10 days drive. Are you or your truck up to that? Unless I had unlimited time, I'd probably fly.
