mixing aftermarket and stock stereo components?

Hey guys, I have a 04 F-150 lariat with the premium sound (6-cd changer). I would like to just add a sub without having to install a new deck and amp and whatever else. Would it be a good idea? Can you run an aftermarket amp and sub with the factory radio? thanks

You will need something like this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4...4.html?tp=2001

alright cool. i have been looking at sub boxes, and it seems that i can only find 10" sub boxes for my 04 ext cab. Would a single 10 give decent bass? i would like to do a single 12, but i cant find any boxes to fit

Yup, LOC is what you need. I have used these in Blows... I mean Bose systems before.

If decent is what you want, 10" is fine. I had "decent" from an 8" free-air sub. I wouldn't want too be annihilating my brain anyway.

youll need an amp for your sub. what sub you get depends on how loud you want to bump. one quality ten and a quality class "d" amp will be louder than you think, and the more subs, well the louder. you can find boxes online to fit your truck if you want one or two and they will match the carpet on the box to the inside of your truck. if you get two, you will have to remove your jack. where you mount your amp in another question you need to figure out. you can mount it under one of the front seats or behind the back, more airflow in the front tho. removing the back seat is a hassel and probabally harder than installing the whole system

well i went on ebay and found a 10" box that will work and a Type R alpine with alpine amp. i may go this route
