The miles are catching up with her
Pulled out of the parking lot at work and thought I had a transmission going. It slipped very badly. I pulled to the side of the road and gave it some gas and it just revved up with no movement but some odd sounds. I shut the truck off to consider my situation. When I went to restart the starter spun with ease and no engine cranking. It took a moment of thinking until I realized that my flexplate was no longer connected to the engine.
A little search turned up a not so common issue of broken flexplates on F150's.
Damn
There is no way I am going to do the work needed to make the change so I an enlisting some favours to have the work completed.
Unfortunetely I was suppose to haul my trailer out to moose hunting camp tomorrow. Not going to happen now. As well, in exchange for a nearly free labour job, the work will take at least a week. I am hoping to haul out next weekend now and set up for moose hunting.
The old girl just rolled over 300 000 KM this week and is showing her age I guess. I feel really bad letting my moose hunting group down as we were all headed out to set up. The new flexplate is under $100 Canadian so not too bad of a repair with free labour. I wish I had a lift at home, I'd have it done over the weekend myself.

And here it is. Seriously who breaks a flex plate?
