Default Miles Between Oil Changes

Just did an oil change on my '07 FX4 Screw - just turned 90,000. This is my first oil change since I've owned it, and I switched from conventional to Castrol Edge fully synthetic - still using the Ford filter. I'm thinking this should be good for 6-7000 miles. This sound about right??

That's about right, I change mine every 5,000 but Its up to you and your driving habits. If you tow a lot like I do, or if you live in harsh conditions, stop and go traffic, or off road a lot I'd go with 5,000. For normal use 6000 to 7,000 is good. I have a V6 with a manual and I tow a 18 foot bass boat a lot so little engine + heavy towing= shorter oil change intervals lol

I am a master ASE Tech and Certified Ford Tech and they Recomend 5k/5months! I like takeing care of my stuff so that why 3000-3500 mile changes

An ASE tech should also know about UOA and know that oil can go much longer. Shorter OCI doesn't always equate to taking better care of your stuff. There have been a few studies linking slightly increased wear due to more frequent oil changes.

Thats actually the recommended change interval on my truck via ford! I have heard of this but its actually only common on regular oil vehicles not to much in semi synthetic and full synthetic oils from what ive always understood API rates oild for specifics but ive sent oils in out of a fleet truck f150 with 5.4 and he had 15k on full synthetic and it could have gone longer but we recomended the change! Was just a test and trial

3k. Open up a 5.4 changed every 3k and open up one that went 5-7500. Let me know how the sludge looks, the timing change guides and phasers, as well as the smaller oil passages used tend to sludge up when not regularly changed leading to pre-mature failure. Changing your oil cannot hurt your engine, maybe every one hundred miles since it runs before the oil pump kicks some oil in, but that's also why the motorcraft filter is superior for the anti drain back valve. I see 3vs 250k plus and I see 3v's barely make 100k and I bet ya can't guess which ones were done at 3k and which were 5-6k.
Saying changing oil is bad is like saying the spark plugs are hard to do...
