Default Max Tire Size

I have a 2005 Ford F150 STX

I currently have 17 inch rims and the tires are 285/70/17

What is the biggest tire I can go with without rubbing or having any issues??

I would ditch the level and go with a quicklift strut replacement... I put my truck through a mini torture test to find the limits after I installed my tires (this included reverse donuts)... They didn't rub the wheel well or touch the bumper valance at all... Good thing about the quicklifts is that they are adjustable for stiffness... Once you get a pair, you'll kick yourself for not getting them sooner....

If I may ask, when you say you don't get any rubbing, do you mean when you're getting crossed up on an off road trail, or while driving on the street climbing driveways (hey, some driveways get a truck crossed up pretty good!:-)). I'm serious though. I just bought a set of Raptor wheels and almost no one (worthy of note) makes a 33 x 12.50R17, only 35". I have a 2" BOSS coilover set up and a ProComp add-a-leaf in the rear. LOOKS like plenty of room, but I don't want my off road capabilities to diminish any.

Thanks so much!

I haven't had any rubbing issues out on the trail... I've been hauling my ATV in the bed, along with a 5'x14' trailer loaded with 2 more. I've cut some pretty sharp corners and hit my share of uneven paths...still no rubbing..

If you want to hit dunes, crash through mud holes, hit the rough trails at 50mph... I advise you get a truck better equipped... Just because I have Raptor rims and tires, doesn't mean I'll be driving it like a Raptor...
