Lost 5 quarts of oil in about 3-4 months

Ok so i love my truck and everything i put new wheels and tires on it the other day, but i checked my oil and there was 1 quart left like two weeks, and i put likie 6 or 7 quarts in it last oil change. MY catalytic converter #2 is bad.
What the hells going on? Its impossible i lost 5 quarts of oil in the matter of a few months,

what motor you talking about ?.. engine wouldn’t run with 1 quart of oil in it... or not very long anyways.

and if you're burning that much oil it could explain why the cats are failing...

1 qt left......
There's no way.

Would 1 qt even register on the dipstick???

You *could* have lost that much oil through highly obvious leaks, or shot rings/valve guides/PCV. External oil cooler blow a line?

Did you torque the drain bolt fully? Tighten the oil filter? Not that I believe it's running on a quart of oil, but those are obvious leak sources.

Maintenance before mods. Always.

How often do you check the oil? Assuming yours is a 2004-2008 model, it's old enough that you should probably be checking it every time you fill it up.

My 1997 uses a quart every 2 or 3 tanks. That's not too bad for a truck that old. And it doesn't smoke, so I'm not too concerned about it. I keep a couple bottles of oil and some paper funnels in the truck, and add a quart as needed.

It has 231,000 miles on it, and still runs reasonably well. I'm hopeful I can get another 100k miles out of it :)

I'd run a compression and valve leak down test on it and see what's going on.

No, It would need about 5.5 to hit the dipstick.

Do you live in a sketchy place that would siphon/drain your oil to steal it?
